Cuminotto Inc. in
association with Taurus Investment Holdings developers of Shelton Technology Center and Shelton Corporate Park.
Vince Cuminotto a Bridgeport native has launched his
development company Cuminotto Inc. (www.cuminotto.com)
here in Shelton by establishing the Shelton Corporate Park on Constitution
Blvd South, and the Shelton Technology Center within the Corporate Park.
The Shelton Technology Center is a complex of four buildings totaling
363,000 square feet of light industrial, office and R
& D space which includes some of the most advanced technology in the
world. Building A
which is 24,324 square feet. Peabody Engineering (www.peabodyengineering.com)
is leasing 18,990 square feet and 5,334 is leased to Unique Design.
Building B, which is 46,550 square feet, is leased by Emhart
Fastening Tecknologies, USA (www.BDK.com)
a subsidiary of Black and Decker. And Building C, which is 42,235 square feet, is leased to
Random House a subsidiary of Bertelsmann (www.bertlesmann.com).
Mr. Cuminotto has a background in accounting.
He started his accounting business in Newtown Connecticut.
In 1980 he sold his Newtown practice and started a new practice in
Warwick, R.I. In 1984 he
retired for six years to devote time to his first passion, as a volunteer
minister preaching from house to house as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
In 1990 he got involved in the commercial real estate
industry with Taurus Investment Holdings, LLC a real estate
investment-banking firm. Mr.
Cuminotto was invited by Taurus to relocate in New York to manage the
Eastchester Mall, Eastchester, N.Y. and the Pershing Building on Park
Avenue and Forty Second St, in Manhattan.
In 1995 Taurus purchased the $130 million dollar
Landman Portfolio. This
portfolio consisted of 37 buildings in the downtown and greater Boston Mass
area. Mr. Cuminotto was asked
by Taurus to assist in this portfolio management by interacting with the
asset managers and property managers while overseeing and approving all
cash expenditures and cash transfers.
In 1997 Taurus partnered with Cuminotto and purchased
the Laurel Heights Joint Venture from Peoples Savings Bank.
This 95 acres parcel has since become the home of California
Closets, Mica Corporation, Electric Cable Assembly and the Shelton
Technology Center, which houses Random House, Emhart USA, Peabody
Engineering and Unique Design.
Nearly 200,000 square feet has been developed in this park to date.
A current development of 250,000 square feet is underway as a build to
suit. Also currently under development is a 100,000 square foot
office and medical complex within the same park.
Shelton Corporate Park offers beautiful views and wooded lots for a first class corporate
identity. The development of
the Constitution Blvd. South area has attracted other developers as well. As a new addition to the Shelton Corporate Park is the development
of 55 single family condo units by Robert D. Scinto.
On June 20th Shelton Technology Center
hosted a most unusual open house for Real Estate Brokers. The open house was sponsored by CB Richard Ellis Real Estate.
The idea was to create enough excitement to attract the brokers to
come for morning coffee, juice and pastry.
But the main attraction was a free ride up at 2500 feet to see the
site from a chartered helicopter. The
helicopter was chartered by the building Al Secondino and Son and
Cuminotto Inc. All will
certainly remember this open house.
Cuminotto plans to continue to develop real estate in
the Shelton area. In spite of
the tax plight of neighboring cities like Bridgeport and Waterbury,
Shelton’s administration is determined to keep its taxes low. This is an
attraction to companies that want to relocate here.
“Shelton’s city officials, it’s economic development service
and many amenities make this city an enjoyable place to live and work,”
said Cuminotto, “It’s the jewel of eastern Fairfield County”
